4 Tips for Booking a Hotel Near a Food Festival

For foodies from around the world, the UK is the place to be. Every year, at least 15 separate culinary events are held across the country’s national parks, many of which are dedicated to specific cuisines.

If you plan to attend a food festival in England this year, nothing can put a damper on your adventure more than a lack of safe, clean, comfortable lodging. Read on to learn how to book a hotel for a culinary festival.

1. Book the Hotel In Advance

Attending a food festival cannot be a spontaneous decision. At least this is true if you plan to stay in the area for more than one day.

Given that food festivals draw attendance from around the globe, you may want to book your hotel well in advance. To ensure that you get the rate and room you need, book as far as a year in advance if possible. Six months ahead of the food festival is the latest point at which you should make your arrangements.

2. Do Your Research

Since food festivals take place in large cities, the area is typically populated with hotels. If you want to enjoy comfortable accommodations as you satisfy your inner foodie, do some research about the hotels you’re considering.

Don’t book the first hotel in the area that you find through a Google search. Look at each hotel’s accommodations closely, and narrow your search down to three or four choices.

Pay attention to the following factors of elimination:

  • Poor reviews from hotel customers
  • Prices far outside your budget.
  • Not enough information on the hotel’s website.

If your lodging budget matches rock-bottom hotel prices, you are bound to come across some lemons. If you come across any hints of bedbugs or other serious issues with accommodations, cross those hotels from your list immediately.

3. Book a Place Close to the Food Festival

How far do you want your hotel to be from the event itself?

Food festivals are crowded. Driving with a car or even taking a ride share to and from your hotel can be a nightmare. You may also want to partake in night-time festival events, which makes distant hotels inconvenient.

If possible, book hotel accommodations that provide a shuttle service to and from the food festival. Even if the hotel doesn’t have a consistent shuttle service, it may provide transportation for the duration of the festival.
